Description
Internal Threaded Cast Anchor System
The Abbcast unit comprises of four individual anchorages as described above positioned at pre-determined centres using a 20mm plywood template. The unit is designed for placing directly into wet concrete or tied into reinforcement prior to concrete placement thus ensuring there is no need to cut or remove any reinforcing which would be required with standard cast-in cradle units.
Designed to meet a serviceable life of not less than 20 years. The Abbcast is a unique design solely marketed by Abbot Fixings Systems Ltd and covered by a patent.
The Abbcast is made from stainless steel (grade 316 to BS 970 Part 1), and comes complete with a 20mm stainless steel hexagon set bolt (grade A4/80 to BS 6105), and a stainless steel washer (grade 316 to BS 1449 Part 2). Abbcast units are installed into the concrete so that each socket is flush with the concrete surface. The post baseplate unit is then secured with hexagon headed bolts. Abbcast units are designed for applications where a removable fixing head is required, which is a mandatory requirement of series 400 Specification for Highway Works for Safety Fencing posts on bridgedecks. The Coned Nut attached to the bottom of each individual fixing acts to increase the pull-out capabilities of this anchorage unit.
The internal thread length of the Abbcast unit is 40mm, this allows for the adjustment of the hexagon set bolt. Base plates with a bedding mortar gap of 10-25mm can be fixed with the standard fixing. On request longer hexagon set bolts can be fitted prior to delivery and packing washers supplied as accessories if required. Other accessories in the form of Nylon 6.6 tophat washers are available as insulators between the stainless and galvanised components.
Special long anchors can be made to meet below ground applications where the depth of effective anchorage needs to be increased to suit.
